Legacy of spirituality and enlightenment still permeates the air today
St Columbanus was a 6th century monk born at the foot of Mount Leinster, and the newly signposted trail winds from the Nine Stones there to Myshall village, Bagnelstown, Leighlinbridge, Carlow and the Kildare border amd is referred to as the “new camino”
Follow in his footsteps as you explore the St. Columbanus Trail, tracing the same route that Pilgrims have journeyed for centuries in search of solace and sanctuary. As you wander through the rolling mountain paddocks dotted with contented sheep grazing peacefully amidst the rugged terrain, you will encounter remnants of Ireland’s storied past at every turn. From hidden holy wells to mysterious ruins tucked away in the woods, each landmark tells a tale of resilience, perseverance and the enduring spirit of the Irish people.
But the history of the areas are not just confined to ancient folklore – It’s a living breathing testament to the generations of families who have called this place home
Our serene haven is nestled among the beauty of Mount Leinster's countryside, where you may encounter the gentle presence of grazing horses and sheep nearby.
While these delightful creatures contribute to the charm of our surroundings, they may occasionally be heard. Rest assured, their presence adds to the authentic rural experience we offer, immersing you in the peaceful rhythms of nature.
